#140conf smalltown presentation: taking online communities offline.

Last year @Guavalicious and me spoke about creating online communities at #140conf smalltown. This year we followed up by talking about what to do to take those online relationships offline. My segment starts about 5 minutes in and is about creating relationships with businesses.

Ignite Columbia

Ignite ColumbiaSocial Media Club MidMO held an Ignite event on August 18th, 2011. Harpo’s was kind enough to host and provide appetizers. PenguinSpark (@CommercialScott) organized the event.  The League of Innovators and PenguinSpark each sponsored a round of drinks for everyone. These are the slides from the 5 of the presentations. Sarah Hill went a different direction and did an interactive Google+ hangout presentation so there are no slides for it.

Empire Avenue $100 Amazon card giveaway winner!

The winner of the Empire Avenue $100 Amazon gift card shareholder giveaway is Phil MacDonald (ESC). Phil did not have me recommended so unfortunately he doesn’t get the $25 extra dollars. There were exactly 350 people with 200 shares or more in me. I used a random number generator to pick from 1-350. I then went to my shareholder list & sorted by number of shares owned. I used a trick you might catch in the video to jump to the page with the winner in that range. There is a video at the bottom of this post if you are interested in seeing how I did it.

New E-AV Lottery!

I’m doing more giveaways but changing it up. I will pick a shareholder every 2 weeks to win $50. The person must own 200 shares to win. There is also a $10 bonus if the shareholder has recommended (e)PenguinSpark.

Empire Avenue shareholder giveaway: win $100 Amazon card

One of my lucky Empire Avenue shareholders will win a $100 Amazon gift certificate. Once I reach 1,000 shareholders I will randomly select one to win the prize. You will even win an extra $25 gift card if you have also recommended (e)PenguinSpark on Empire Avenue!

Contest Details:

  1. You must own 200 shares in (e)PenguinSpark to win the prize.
  2. If you have also recommended Penguin Spark on Empire Avenue you will win an extra $25!
  3. The drawing will be no earlier than May 24, 2011.
  4. You must be 18 years of age.

How the drawing will be done

  1. The drawing will consist of the total number of shareholders at the time. (Ex: If it’s 1050 I will draw from 1050)
  2. The number will be drawn from this number randomizer
  3. Shareholders will be sorted by number of shares owned. The shareholder that falls on that number wins the $100 Amazon gift card, or $125 if they have also recommended Penguin Spark.
  4. Winner will be notified via Empire Avenue mail.
