Apple (APPL)Steve Jobs not only brought us great products and innovations in the technical world, he helped innovate the advertising world. Jobs wasn’t present for “The Martinettis Bring Home a Computer” and I think it’s pretty evident. Commercials aired while Jobs was present tend to be serious, or if playful very minimalist. I believe these are in chronological order but please let me know if you believe i am mistaken.1984
This is perhaps one of Apple’s most famous individual commercials. It aired during the super bowl in 1984.
The Martinettis Bring Home a Computer
It is apparent to me that Steve Jobs had nothing to do with this commercial. It is over the top silly and is actually a 30 minute infomercial pretending to be a TV show. This seems like an all around terrible idea to me. It’s not memorable to me but I threw it in to demonstrate the difference in marketing when Jobs was absent from Apple.
This commercial was tied to Apple’s “Think Different” campaign. It has more in common with the 1984 commercial than the Martinettis commercial. This commercial came out shortly after Jobs returned to Apple.
Another throwback to an old science fiction movie like 1984 (I refer to the movie and not the book sense they used footage from the movie). Both the 1984 commercial and this one are kind of creepy to me. The also both ran during Super Bowls.
Get a Mac
This is a collection of the “Get a Mac” commercials that were extremely popular. If “1984″ is Apple’s most memorable single commercial then I would argue this is their most memorable series of commercials.
iPhone ads
This is a collection of some of the first iPhone commercials. There was another commercial that originally promo’d the iPhone as a teaser but I doubt it is as memorable to people as these iPhone ads.
This is a very small sample of Apple’s TV commercials. I’m sure there are many great ones I missed. Leave a link to any of your favorites that I may have missed or correct any of my mistakes in the comments.
